Our Charter: to breed Briards outstanding according to standards held on both sides of the Atlantic for conformation, working ability, temperament, soundness and performance.

Planned litter. Meet the Parents!

Ch. Atahualpa Yupanqui de la Maison Suzie (Quito) X Ch. Eiledon's Uri de Lindeau (Uri)

The Briard is an old breed with centuries of tradition, work ethic, narrative adventures, comedy and tragedy. Almost lost during the periods following WWI and WWII, dedicated modern breeders are entrusted with the welfare of the breed and of the individual dogs. We do our best here to strike that appropriate balance and carry on where others have gone before us.

Careful research, dedication and a genuine interest in the future of the Briard mean that we breed infrequently, with a strong focus on quality over quantity of puppies.

Founded in 1990 when Karen Westerholm brought home her first Briard, Am. Ch. Filou de Lutece, TT, CGC, Rassemblement Select 1995, the family has grown. Karen imported Am. Ch. Iota Adut Von de Hoolhoove, TT, CGC, HIC, Rassemblement Select 2000 and so began the tradition of a house full of "Von Hooligans". The first Eiledon litter was born in 1995, producing 3 American Champions, 2 Rassemblement Select , a Group Placing Dog who also earned an Award of Merit at the 1998 BCA National Specialty and 1 Rassemblement Pre-Select dogs. Shortly thereafter, co-owner and breeder Beth Coughlin joined the Eiledon ranks with an eye towards careful expansion and thoughtful continuation of our auspicious start. Our second litter has produced a black female who was the 2001 National Canadian Briard Club Specialty Puppy Sweepstakes winner and a black-born grey male who earned a Best of Opposite Sex at the Independent Californian Specialty. His brother, another black-born grey, lives in Florida and is a Group Placing dog.  The third produced our tawny male Tison, who earned Reserve Winner's Dog at the 2003 BCA National Specialty. Perhaps our most cherished accomplishments are the two of our dogs working as professional therapy dogs, and several others that have touched lives doing volunteer therapy work.

We are just as proud watching a seven-month old puppy work sheep for the first time as any ribbon or accolade earned in the conformation ring. Form follows function and we strive to bring our dogs closer to the ideal standard of the breed in each consecutive generation. Our dogs have a strong working drive, and while they are not the dog for the faint of heart, they provide intelligent and challenging companions for the home, show ring, obedience, agility and herding arenas.

We believe in a close relationship between breeders and dog owners. That belief leads to a lifetime relationship with owners of our dogs, for those who desire that kind of support.
